Having worked in the fashion industry for over 16 years across various fields, I have witnessed it evolve into a system that no longer acknowledges its boundaries. The environmental impact of fashion is staggering—every second, a truckload of clothing is either incinerated or dumped into landfills.

The challenges within the fashion industry require us to be agile, adaptable, and, most importantly, highly creative. I refuse to turn a blind eye to this issue; I want to contribute to transforming the industry and strive to make the greatest possible positive impact.

I recognise that this is not easy, but a very complex process involving numerous stake holders. Taking conscious decisions in design and development is the first step. I educated myself on innovative tools such as 3D and AI modelling to limit the need of sampling. I took courses on sustainability and design for a circular economy, and keep on learning every day. I select the right fabrics with the least impact for the right products, consciously select trims, and evaluate where waste can be reduced. I want my legacy for the next generations to be a process, not a product.

In addition to designing products, I enjoy brainstorming concepts to enhance the customer experience when they engage with your (online) retail environment. I aim to help your brand become a top choice among their favorites.

Recently I started Change the Thread, a platform that connects designers to find solutions for a better connection between designers and consumers, and consumers and their garments. The key to a circular economy is to design products that keep their value and to design starting at the end of life of a garment in mind. I am very curious to explore what this can lead to; more collaboration between designers and more awareness among consumers.​​
